Taking Care of Everything this Winter

With the drop in temperature, we most certainly know that winter is almost upon us. Throughout this time, it’s important to keep in mind the impact that this can have on older adults. With live-in care, we can support your loved ones to ensure they live happily and comfortably in their own homes this winter.

Here is how you can help our clients this winter:

Eating well

Cold weather can often prevent people from going outside. You can ensure that the grocery shopping is done frequently to ensure your client has a nutritious diet.

Ensuring the home is warm enough

It’s important to heat the home at a steady and comfortable temperature throughout the day. To save energy costs, the radiators can be turned off in the rooms that are not in use.

Keeping active

The cold weather can make you want to stay on the sofa with a blanket. However, it’s important to do some activity with your client to help gain and maintain strength and mobility. This can be done by going for walks or if they experience mobility issues, you can give advice and tips on chair based activities that you can assist with.

Wear plenty of layers

Dressing appropriately for the cold is important, that is why it is important to make sure your client wears plenty of layers to keep warm.

Vaccinations

Respiratory viruses are easily spread in the winter, so we advise all our clients to get their vaccinations. It is also free for people aged 50 and older.
