COMPANIONSHIP CARE

At Oxford Aunts, we understand the profound impact that companionship can have on the well-being of the elderly. Companionship care is designed to provide social, emotional, and practical support to older adults, ensuring they lead fulfilling and enriched lives. Our goal is to combat loneliness and enhance the quality of life through meaningful interactions and activities.

Oxford Aunts has been a trusted provider of elderly care for over 50 years. Our commitment to excellence and compassionate care has made us a leader in the industry. With a team of highly trained and dedicated carers, we offer personalised companionship care services that cater to the unique needs of each individual under our care.

We are proud to have cared for thousands of people since 1967 enabling them to stay safely and happily in the comfort of their own home, whilst providing much-needed peace of mind for their families. Our high-quality live-in care is focused on improving health, well-being and quality of life.

WHAT IS COMPANIONSHIP CARE FOR THE ELDERLY?

Companionship care for the elderly focuses on providing older adults with regular social interactions and emotional support to enhance their overall well-being. As people age, they may experience increased feelings of loneliness and isolation, which can negatively impact their mental and physical health. Companionship care helps to alleviate these feelings by offering a friendly and supportive presence.

Our carers engage our elderly clients in various activities that stimulate the mind and body, such as conversations, games, hobbies, and outings. This type of care not only helps to maintain cognitive function but also promotes a sense of belonging and joy. By providing consistent companionship, we help elderly individuals stay connected, active, and mentally engaged, significantly improving their quality of life.

WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM COMPANIONSHIP CARE?

Companionship care is ideal for elderly individuals who:

  • Live Alone: Older adults who reside by themselves and may feel isolated.
  • Have Limited Mobility: Individuals who have difficulty getting out and about.
  • Experience Loneliness: Those who feel lonely or have minimal social interaction.
  • Have Lost Loved Ones: Older adults coping with the loss of friends or family members.
  • Require Emotional Support: Individuals in need of a friendly and supportive presence.
  • Seek Mental Stimulation: Older adults who could benefit from engaging activities and conversations.
  • Need Assistance with Daily Tasks: Those who could use help with routine activities to maintain independence.

THE BENEFITS OF COMPANIONSHIP CARE FOR THE ELDERLY

EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING

Companionship care significantly improves mental health by providing seniors with regular social interactions. This helps reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness, promoting a sense of belonging and happiness. Our caregivers offer a friendly presence and a listening ear, fostering emotional stability and joy.

PHYSICAL HEALTH

Regular social engagement and activities can have a positive impact on physical health. Companionship care encourages seniors to stay active and involved, which can lead to improved mobility, better physical health, and a more active lifestyle. Our caregivers assist with light exercises and encourage participation in physical activities.

ENHANCED QUALITY OF LIFE

Companionship care goes beyond basic assistance; it enriches lives by introducing enjoyable activities and fostering connections. From playing games and hobbies to outings and social events, our caregivers ensure that seniors remain engaged and entertained, making every day meaningful.

OUR COMPANIONSHIP CARE SERVICES

According to Age UK, more than 2 million people in England over the age of 75 live alone, and more than a million older people say they go over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour, or family member. To address this pressing issue, Oxford Aunts offers comprehensive companionship care services tailored to the needs of the elderly.

We believe that every individual is unique. Our personalised care plans are tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each client. By understanding their interests and routines, we create a care plan that enhances their lifestyle and well-being.

Our companionship care includes a variety of activities designed to stimulate the mind and body. Whether it’s a walk in the park, a visit to a local café, or engaging in a favourite hobby, our carers ensure that each day is filled with enjoyable and purposeful activities.

While companionship is at the core of our services, we also provide assistance with daily tasks to promote independence. Our carers help with meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, and other routine activities, making daily life easier and more comfortable.

Our carers are trained to provide not only physical assistance but also emotional and mental support. Through conversation, companionship, and engaging activities, we help keep the mind active and promote cognitive health. We are here to offer a comforting presence and a supportive environment.

CONDITIONS WE CARE FOR

Whilst our reputation is built on high-quality, companionship care, we are experts in providing specialist care of complex conditions that affect older people. Our approach to matching our carers with our clients means that the carer we place with you will have been trained in the specific condition you are living with and will enable you to live a better quality of life, with independence and choice.

CHOOSING A PROVIDER

Once you have decided that home care is right for you and your family, the decision now is which home care provider do you choose. Many believe that all live-in care organisations are regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which means the quality of care is monitored and regularly inspected. This is not the case – here we explain the key differences to help you make an informed decision.

OUR COMPANIONSHIP CARERS

Our dedicated carers are the heart and soul of Oxford Aunts, providing exceptional support and companionship to elderly individuals.

PROFESSIONAL AND COMPASSIONATE STAFF

At Oxford Aunts, our carers are carefully selected for their professionalism, compassion, and dedication to elderly care. Each carer undergoes extensive training to ensure they are equipped to provide the highest quality of care, ensuring your loved one receives the best possible support. Our recruitment process is so rigorous only 2% of candidates advance to the next stage.

MATCHING PROCESS

We understand the importance of compatibility between carers and clients. Our matching process considers personality, interests, and care needs to pair clients with the most suitable carer, fostering strong and positive relationships.

ONGOING SUPPORT AND SUPERVISION

We provide continuous support and supervision to our carers to ensure consistent, high-quality care. Regular check-ins and feedback sessions help us maintain our standards and adapt to any changing needs.

A FULLY MANAGED SERVICE
PROVIDES PEACE OF MIND

At Oxford Aunts we know how worrying it can be when organising long term care – we just want our loved one to receive the best care and live a good life. When choosing a home care provider, you have a choice as to whether you use an introduction agency or fully managed service provider like Oxford Aunts.

Our fully managed and regulated home care service means our carers are directly employed and managed by us whilst they are caring for you. They are supported by a care management team made up of care experts who ensure they are supervised and supported to provide the high standards of care our clients should expect. If you use an introduction agency you will be left to manage the carer, pay them and organise holiday cover once you are introduced to them and they start to care for you.

For the many families that Oxford Aunts supports, we know this provides lots of reassurance whilst removing the burden of having to carefully manage the care arrangement for their family member or loved one.
