WHAT IS 24-HOUR CARE?
24-hour care is provided by two or more carers working opposite shifts so that someone is always available to provide assistance throughout the day and night. This type of care ensures that one carer receives a break whilst the other carer is on call to look after you or your loved one or respond to any urgent needs.
Live-in care involves a carer providing you with assistance throughout the day whilst only being available for ad hoc needs throughout the night. Generally speaking, live-in carers are not expected to be woken up to provide assistance more than 2-3 times a night. For those with complex care needs that require ongoing assistance throughout the night, full 24-hour care is available from a different carer that provides support during the day.

- A respite care service can be provided on a live-in basis following hospital discharge or for those needing rehabilitation or to recover from illness.
