Obtaining a police check from your home country
Australia

We will require a National Police Clearance Certificate based on fingerprints and name check. Local police clearances are not acceptable. For further information contact:-

New Zealand

All the information and application forms are provided on www.justice.govt.nz. Click on “Information and Publications” and then select “Obtaining a Copy of Your Criminal Record” from the drop down menu. You must apply to the Ministry of Justice in writing by completing the appropriate form. You can download the form from the website or have it sent to you by writing to:

South Africa

Police clearance certificates can be applied for at any police station. Fingerprints will also be done there. The application form, together with fingerprints will then be forwarded to the Central Registry for processing. Contact your local police station for more information.

Obtaining a Visa under the Youth Mobility Scheme

The youth mobility scheme is for young people from participating countries who would like to experience life in the United Kingdom.  The countries on the scheme now are:

Under the scheme, your national government is your sponsor.  British overseas citizens, British overseas territories citizens and British nationals (overseas) can also apply under the scheme and do not need a sponsor.  For more information please visit the Home Office UK Border Agency website.

Obtaining an ancestry visa

If you have or had UK grandparents then you may be entitled to enter and work in the UK by virtue of an ancestry visa.

Go to www.ukvisas.gov.uk.

Click on “Do I need a UK Visa” and complete the three fields from the drop down menus.  You will then have access to the complete guidance on ancestry visas and to the relevant visa application form: VAF1 2004.

Central Backpackers Hostel at 13 Park End Street Oxford OX1 1HH

Two doors from our training room and near the bus station.  The Central Backpackers offers bed and continental breakfast at a very reasonable rate.  The accommodation is dormitory style with kitchen facilities.  They do have an all female dormitory and will do their best to fit you in but they get quite busy during the summers months.  Contact them on +44 (0)1865 242288 or www.centralbackpackers.co.uk to book and pay for your accommodation.
